HCL showcases catering talent at awards evening

Herts Catering Ltd (HCL) showcased the talent of their staff at an awards evening attended by more than 200 people at the Hilton Hotel in Watford.

During the course of the evening 10 category awards were presented to people who had provided high quality services and showed initiative, innovation and creativity in their role. Long Service Awards were also presented during the evening.

Lin O’Brien, chief executive of HCL, said: “Our staff are our greatest asset; they have great passion for what they do and have a huge commitment to the schools they work with. Our awards ceremony is just one of the ways we celebrate them and the outstanding contribution they make.”

The judging panel, made up of HCL Board Members, the CEO and key suppliers to HCL, considered more than 85 nominations from all over the county for a coveted finalist place.

Award winners included:

  • Primary School / Academy Catering Team of the Year (below 200 meals a day) - Walkern Primary School Catering Team.
     
  • Primary School / Academy Catering Team of the Year (above 200 meals a day) - Saint Philip Howard R C Primary School Catering Team.
     
  • Special Schools’ Catering Team of the Year - Batchwood School Catering Team. 
     
  • Secondary School/Academy/Commercial Catering Team of the Year (Below 900 Students) - Adeyfield School Catering Team
     
  • Secondary School/Academy/Commercial Catering Team of the Year - Above 900 Students - The John Warner School Catering Team
     
  • Delivering Service Excellence - Team Entry - The Food Development Team – HCL
     
  • HCL Manager of the Year - Leona Burt – Contract Manager HCL
     
  • Innovation Award (Individual or Team) - Annette Graham from Roger de Clare Primary School
     
  • Mobile Workforce Award - Kevin Davis – Mobile Cook Manager
     
  • Specialist Category Award (Individual or Team Entry) - Anne Forshaw – Contract Supervisor, HCL
