Knorr gravy announces gluten-free masterclasses with Phil Vickery

29 May 2015

Knorr gravy has joined forces with celebrity chef, Phil Vickery, to launch a new gluten-free gravy campaign dedicated to helping chefs deliver creative and nutritious gluten-free food.

According to research by Knorr, over half of 1,200 school caterers surveyed would like to offer more gluten-free dishes. When also asked if they currently had gluten-free meals on their menu, nearly a quarter (22%) of school caterers said no.

Vickery is an ambassador for Coeliac UK and will lead a series of gluten-free masterclasses in the Knorr kitchen throughout June and July, with one on June 15th especially for school caterers, offering practical advice and insight into how chefs are coping with allergen legislation.

Leon Mills, Knorr marketing manager, said: “According to Coeliac UK, one in every 100 children in the UK has coeliac disease and has to follow a strict gluten-free diet or risk getting ill. These kids don’t want to be stigmatised at meal times. We want to help schools make sure all school children are able to enjoy the same school meals.”

“Our research showed that school caterers want to add more gluten-free dishes to their menu, but cost and limited recipe inspiration are big barriers. That’s why we’ve put together this masterclass, to help give caterers the inspiration and tips they need to create simple, dishes that all kids can enjoy.
