LACA’s National School Meals Week focuses on eating more & wasting less

10 Nov 2022
On day four of National School Meals Week (7-11 November) LACA are encouraging schoolchildren to eat more and waste less.

Chair of LACA Brad Pearce said: “We are focussing on reducing waste. I know as head of catering here at Plymouth that caterers and ourselves have done a huge amount to reduce the amount of waste that we create. We have removed single-use plastics [and] we have worked with our suppliers to reduce the amount of packaging that comes in with our goods.

“Do we shout about it enough? Probably not. So let’s tell everybody what we do and for the benefit of the planet continue to do more and more so that we can demonstrate to the next generation how much we care. Talking of the next generation, LACA has produced a fantastic fact sheet for pupils to download and consider how they can make a pledge to reduce their impact on the environment.

“As LACA chair I am really proud of the work we all do as members, our suppliers, our schools and our pupils to reduce our impact on the environment. Together we really can make a difference.”

There is a wealth of free resources to download and personalise, they can be found here. You can make NSMW your own, theme days can be run around your own menu.
