LACA is the professional body representing 1000 catering managers and suppliers who provide catering services to all sectors of Local Authorities in England, Wales and Scotland. Local authority caterers are responsible for providing more than 2.5 million school meals a day, civic catering such as town halls and leisure centres, for social services catering such as residential homes for the elderly, day centres and meals on wheels.

Finishing Touches Brochure Now Available
Finishing Touches is a static display class organised by LACA in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs.
It is aimed at all levels of staff employed in any aspect of local authority catering capable of producing excellent craft pieces, and provides entrants with the opportunity to show off their skills which would not normally be seen during their everyday profession.
Now in its second year Finishing Touches has been developed to include two new categories for 2008: Petit Fours and Biscuits, giving a total of six categories to enter. The 2008 display salon will take place at the LACA Conference on Thursday 10 July at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
LACA makes school fuel cool
In a drive to help young people understand the changes taking place with school food and why these have positive benefits for their future health, the Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) and the School Food Trust have launched an advertising campaign in several teenage magazines.
There are six adverts in total showing the difference between kids that opt for healthy food and those that choose junk.

LACA Awards 2008 - Now Calling for Nominations
2008 is the 12th year of the LACA Awards. Every year the awards acknowledge individuals and teams of people who continue to make a real difference in education catering.
Winning a LACA Award not only boosts the confidence, morale and motivation of the whole organisation but is instrumental in changing the attitudes and influencing the actions of both parents and pupils.

LACA Conference 2008 Programme of Events Now Available
Each year the conference & exhibition brings key catering personnel from local education authorities together under one roof to network and discuss the issues they face.
This year's event takes place on the 9th, 10th & 11th July 2008 and highlights include the Finishing Touches competition and Hell's Kitchen winner Barry McGuigan is the guest speaker.
