Craft Guild of Chefs joins forces with LACA for National School Meals Week

24 Mar 2014

Craft Guild of Chefs members have been invited to get in on the action for National School Meals Week (NSMW) organised by LACA, the Lead Association for CAtering in education, and provide a work placement for a school caterer.

NSMW organisers are looking for high profile or unusual catering establishments, perhaps a top London restaurant, a renowned private school, the House of Commons, an NHS catering operation or even an oil rig to host a school caterer for a day over the week, which kicks off on November 3, to help create a buzz around the campaign and, ultimately, highlight the importance of school lunches.

Supporters of school caterers need to remember that from September, there will be free school meals for infants in schools across the UK and school caterers have to balance the requirement to increase uptake with keeping their workload manageable.

Getting behind NSMW to help promote ‘The Great School Lunch’, which is designed to highlight all that is great about school food and the importance of a nutritious and tasty school lunch all year round, will enable members to show their support.
