Innovate Services backs Sunday Times’ Better School Meals campaign

19 Jun 2013

When Innovate launched in 2007, it was driven by an aim of modernising the school catering experience for secondary schools, academies and colleges across the UK.

Derick Martin, CEO of Innovate explained:  “When we launched Innovate Services five years ago, it was clear to me that school meals had lost its way over the years. It was stuck in a time warp and wasn’t addressing the current needs or wants of the ‘customer’- students.

"Today we are working in over 80 schools, academies and colleges to provide a service that is focused around what students want – not only from a menu perspective, but also in the surroundings and service.  We work in partnership with our schools; an approach which delivers a service that typically sees uptake double, if not more, as a result.”

Derick Martin added: “I have been following the Sunday Times’ Better School Meals campaign and we fully support what it is aiming to do, which is to ultimately continue improving standards and take-up of school dinners across the country.   It is also heightening the awareness regarding the need to improve the contents of lunch boxes that are being brought into schools; which we believe is an extremely important issue.”
