Innovate Services, the innovative catering operator to the education sector, and Kenilworth School & Sixth Form, have been presented with a ‘Heartbeat Award’, by Warwick District Council and Warwickshire NHS, recognising the healthy food choices and high standards of food hygiene offered to students at the school.

Heartbeat is an award run by local Councils and NHS dieticians and is given to caterers who care about food and health.  The award is presented to caterers when they clearly demonstrate that they have very high food hygiene practices and standards; have been issued a ‘5’ on the National Food Hygiene Rating  Scheme; offer a wide range of healthy food choices to diners; and promote healthy choices to diners.

Hayden Abbott, head teacher at Kenilworth School said: “We are very proud to receive the Heartbeat Award, in conjunction with our catering partner Innovate Services.  Only caterers invited by their Environmental Health Officer can apply for the award, and it is extremely satisfying for us all to be recognised for our commitment in promoting healthy eating to our students, and for our safe and welcoming environment. Well done to the whole catering team for making this possible.”

CEO Derick Martin added: “We firmly believe that health and nutrition have a direct impact on students’ learning and education.  We therefore focus on delivering a catering service that provides a range of healthy choices to Kenilworth School’s students: from hot meals, stir fries and freshly-made pasta, through to Panini, baguettes or a salad bar. If students are eating well, they will be more satisfied which helps with their concentration levels and ultimately has a knock-on effect towards improved learning.”
