Professors Don Bundy and Kevin Morgan will join forces at the LACA Main Event, which is taking place on 8-9th July at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole, to deliver a speech to audience members on school food across the globe.

The session will take place on day two of the Main Event and is titled ‘How the UK school food service fairs in a good food revolution and in a global school food context’. Both professors made it onto 2024 Public Sector Catering’s most influential list.

The duo will share their thoughts, research and experiences of school food in a UK and global context. Drawing out the challenges the UK faces and what we can learn from the services that are delivered locally and around the world.

Bundy is an adviser to the UN World Food Programme, leading a global research effort to provide evidence-based guidance to the 107 member states of the School Meals Coalition about how to strengthen national school meals programmes.

His research shows that health and economic outcomes in different countries are related to the extent to which their children are well fed, particularly in the crucial but neglected school-age years.

Morgan published a book titled ‘Serving The Public - Food Procurement in Schools, Hospitals and Prisons’. It has been written for a more general audience, aiming to shed light on the vital role public institutions play by exploring strategies and policies aimed at enhancing food quality in schools, hospitals and other public sector institutions.

The LACA Main Event also involves other speakers such as Professor Giles Yeo and futurologist Morgaine Gaye as well as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall who will deliver a cooking demonstration. For more information, visit: https://lacamainevent.co.uk/8/programme.
