North East & Scotland Region plans March 20th EXPO

LACA’s North East and Scotland Region is hosting an EXPO, Spring Seminar & Members Meeting at Durham County Cricket Club on March 20th.

Running from 10am to 4pm, the event includes the EXPO Catering Exhibition, which will be opened by LACA Chair Anne Bull.

She will also address members on topical issues such as the School Food Plan, Universal Free School Meals, proposed changes to the Food Standards Legislation, how LACA fits into the Public Health and the Health and Wellbeing Agenda plus an update on the All-Party Parliamentary Group School Food Forum.

Other speakers on the day include Alison Young, Education Lead for Health & Wellbeing for Durham County Council and a member of the School Food Expert Group, who will address the Health and Wellbeing Agenda in schools.

David Baldwin, executive headteacher at Churchill Community College, will talk about ‘Our Menu for Success’ and how his school has adopted successful strategies to increase meal take up and the whole school approach to food.

David Griffiths, Ofsted Inspector & School Improvement Officer. Will talk about ‘The Changing Face of Ofsted School Inspections’, while Victoria McGowan of Durham University will present to delegates about the results of her research project assessing the effects changes to legislation on school meals has had on children’s health.

The event is free to LACA members, LACA Partners and associates, including lunch.
