Result of SCOTY 2014 Eastern regional final

The second place in the national final of LACA’s School Chef of
the Year 2014, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been settled following the Eastern regional final.

The winner will now go forward to the final at the Defence Foodservices School, Worthy Down in Hampshire on May 21st.

Tanya Watkin claimed her place in the national final for the third time after winning the Eastern regional final held Barnfield College, Luton on January 22nd.

She works at Woodland Middle School Academy for Eden Foodservice on behalf of Bedfordshire County Council and served judges a main course of Spanish chicken cocido (chicken, vegetable and chickpea stew flavoured with saffron served with chorizo tortilla and rustic bread) followed by Crema de Sant Josep (madeleine sponge baked in citrus caramel egg custard served with orange, strawberry and mint salsa).

The highly commended main course award went to Doreen Peacock who works at Lealands High School for LBC Catering Services on behalf of Luton Borough Council and served up Caribbean Medley (spicy lamb, creamed rice, sweet rainbow kebab and chicken bites dipped in refreshing relish).

The highly commended dessert award went to Neil Hulkes of Cavalry Primary School for Cambridge Catering Services who served up Corinader Infused Panna Cotta (served with fresh orange segments and a raspberry coulis).
