School caterer AiP sponsors number of British Food Fortnight events

20 Jul 2018
School contract caterer Alliance in Partnership (AiP) will be hosting an array of events this British Food Fortnight (22 September – 7 October) at Longlands Primary School (Fairfields).

Taking place during the town’s 2018 Ginger and Spice Festival, AiP will oversee a number of cookery demonstrations and interactive workshops from local chefs, community project leaders and school staff.

It will also donate a collection of seasonal British produce, as a sponsor, and provide a smoothie bike for Longlands’ pupils for the duration.

One standout event will be from Olivier Blanc, son of world-renowned chef Raymond Blanc and creator of the educational food and nature app, ‘Henri Le Worm.’

Incorporating the characters from his app, Blanc will use fresh ingredients grown in the school’s community garden to recreate recipes inspired by his father and sticking to the event’s theme of “promoting the importance of healthy, local and seasonal food choices, and highlighting the importance that nature plays in the food cycle and food production process.”

AiP director Sally Tyson commented: As a leading provider of school meals, healthy and nutritious food is at the heart of our business.

“It is our pleasure to support the Ginger and Spice Festival in not only actively promoting seasonality and nutrition to the Fairfield’s community, but being part of the bigger, national picture in supporting the overall celebration of British Food Fortnight.”

Zillah Cope, head teacher at Longlands, added: “We were thrilled when AiP approached us to take part in the Ginger and Spice Festival, and even more so when we found out Olivier Blanc would be joining us.

“We have already started our preparation by showing and teaching the children which vegetables to plant in our school community garden ahead of the festival.

“It will fabulous to invite their families to join us afterwards for the community meal.”

The Ginger and Spice Festival will take place 26-29 September during British Food Fortnight, in Market Drayton town.
