School Sandwich Designer of the Year crowned

Tom Howarth from Broadstone Middle School, in Dorset, has been crowned ‘School Sandwich Designer of the Year’.

Organised by The Laughing Cow, the competition was designed to highlight the importance of healthy eating and encourage students to interact with food. Pupils were challenged to get creative with Laughing Cow cheese and develop recipes for tasty, healthy sandwiches.

Howarth’s winning product was a Laughing Cow cheese, ham and tomato wrap.

Steve Wathen, deputy head master of the school, said: “We are delighted with Tom's achievement. An awareness of healthy eating is an important life skill. Tom's keen interest, initiative and innovation have resulted in this super recognition.We congratulate Tom and thank his teacher, parents and the competition sponsors for their encouragement."

Adéle Bird, channel marketing manager for Bel Foodservice commented: “We were really impressed with the quality and creativeness of the recipes we received. The competition was a great way to get children thinking about the importance of eating healthily and to encourage them to try new flavours.”

Howarth has won £100 for a family day out of his choice plus a month’s supply of The Laughing Cow and Mini Babybel for his class atBroadstone Middle School.
