LACA Live returns to 2023 Main Event schedule

LACA are pleased to announced the return of LACA Live with cookery demonstrations focusing on low-cost, energy saving and allergen-free school meals.

It will also be an opportunity to see the inaugural winner of the LACA Grab & Go Challenge demonstrate their tasty and nutritious 'on the go' winning dish. Chefs Angela Senyo, Kiran Kaur and Jody Iske will be competing for the inaugural Grab & Go title at the LACA Main Event.

The winning school chef will receive £500, a Green Street Kitchen concept for their school (worth up to £1,500) and the opportunity to work with the Quorn European culinary team.

Wednesday 5th July:

  • 12-1pm: Chef Axel Droege will demonstrate healthy and balanced pasta dishes that are easy to produce with flexible process options and no wastage
  • 1.15-2.15pm: Lisa Marley, chef trainer and Colette Fox, head of programme at Pro-Veg will host a plant-based cookery demo showcasing recipes that are quick, simple and cheap to make

Thursday 6th July:

  • 11-11.45am: Kath Breckon and Paul Hawkins will demonstrate two dishes suitable for Primary & Secondary School pupils only using five ingredients. Both dishes will have full on flavour and be allergen free
  • 12-1pm: A chance to see the inaugural winner of the LACA Grab & Go Challenge demonstrate their tasty and nutritious ‘on the go’ food
  • 1.15-2.15pm: Tanya Ednan-Laperouse OBE will join Tony Hickey, food offer & menu manager Chartwells State Schools and Stephanie Hall, head of technical & compliance at Chartwells in this session which will highlight the challenges of catering for pupils with allergens and offer practical advice on how to cater carefully and thoughtfully for them within your service
