McCain Foods adds new recipes to its One Pot Meals series

The One Pot Meals series is specifically developed to help school cooks serve quick and cost effective dishes.

A collection of 20 recipes, including Piri Piri Pork and Sicilian Fish Pie, has been put together for school chefs to cook nutritionally balanced meals in one pot.

All the recipes feature McCain’s Simply Potato, helping caterers to avoid seasonal issues with the quality and cost of unprepared potatoes and the labour intensive preparation process.

Katrina Ellis, product manager for McCain Foods, said: “The revised School Food Plan and introduction of free school meals has increased pressure on school cooks and kitchen resources, resulting in longer queue times.

“One Pot Meals offer a solution to these common operational challenges, as they are easy to produce in large volumes, help to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

“This makes them ideal not just for schools, but for university and hospital caterers who are experiencing similar challenges with staff, time and equipment.”
