Panel at LACA Main Event to explore value & challenges of local sourcing

Steve Reed, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, announced a reform package to boost farmers’ profitability as part of the Plan for Change including a pledge to make at least 50% of food supplied to schools and hospitals to be from British producers.
The move marks a major leap in achieving the Government’s ambition for at least 50% of food supplied into the £5bn public sector catering contracts to be from British producers or those certified to higher environmental standards.
LACA believes the funding challenge makes this an increasingly difficult ask of operators when the focus has to be to get nutritious food on the plate. A panel will discuss the benefits of sourcing in the UK, the challenges and the options:
- Myles Bremner
- Bethan Cowell – NFU
- Cathy Amos – Love British Food
- Katie Palmer, Foodsense Wales
To watch the panel discussion at the LACA Main Event, attendees will have to book to attend as a delegate. Delegates will also have access to other keynote speakers such as Dr Morgaine Gaye, professor Don Bundy, professor Kevin Morgan, professor Giles Yeo and Victoria Humphries.
