13 Mar 2017
Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s City Catering Service has 31 children from 21 primary schools taking part in the Junior Chef of the Year 2017 competition.

The competition is in its second year and will test pupils, aged seven to 11, on their skills in preparing and cooking their chosen dish. Schools have run mini competitions to select representatives for the challenge.

Three days of cooking will take place this month and an awards ceremony will be held on March 23rd, where Olympic gold medallist Joe Clarke will hand out the prizes.

Last year’s winning dish was served on the menu at Gracie Pepper’s school, Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in Fenton. The dish has also become an option on menus across the city.
