Study reveals Yorkshire pudding as ‘best loved regional delicacy in Britain’

25 Jul 2023
The Yorkshire pudding was voted as the nation’s favourite regional delicacy with 44% of the vote, finishing ahead of a Bakewell tart (26%), a Whitby scotch egg (25%) and the pork pie (18%) that originated from Leicestershire.

Around 74% of those surveyed by social media platform Playsee felt confident their home town has some of the best regional cuisine in the UK, whilst 89% love to enjoy local food from different parts of the UK.

On average Brits eat out at their favourite local places four times a month, with 20% eating out more locally now than they did pre-pandemic, while 38% said independent restaurants and cafes contribute to their neighbourhood.

Veronica Lin, head of user experiences at Playsee, said: “It’s great to see from the research that so many Brits see the value in supporting local businesses and are actively eating more locally since the pandemic, and admit that we could all do our part to help them more.”
