YPO develops UK food deal framework

03 Aug 2016

Public sector buying organisation YPO launched its new UK Food Deal Framework at the LACA Main Event.

The new service was developed to allow customers to buy food that meets their needs, but using and satisfying the EU procurement rules.

It includes both national and local regional suppliers who deliver directly to YPO’s customers' premises.

A YPO spokesperson, said: “Our market research indicated that there is a great deal of misunderstanding in relation to food procurement. We engaged with customers from academies, maintained schools, local authorities and the NHS.

“The YPO UK Food Deal has been created to allow all public funded organisations to buy food from trusted suppliers and great prices. Indeed our initial market research gave cost savings to all customers who took part in our benchmarking.”

YPO has 45 suppliers offering coverage throughout the UK giving academies and schools access to national, regional and local suppliers to meet their catering needs.

Over 60% of the suppliers featured on the YPO UK Food Deal are ‘Small Medium Enterprises’ helping provide local jobs throughout the UK.
